How to store bagged wood pellets
Keep bagged pellets dry, plan access to your supply and check packaging on arrival. Practical storage advice for 15 kg bags.

Prepare a dry place before delivery
Choose a place protected from rain and water. Check the roof, doorways and possible leaks. Keep bags off wet floors. A pallet separates the bags from the floor but does not protect them from flooding.
Bag film and transport wrapping do not guarantee watertight storage. Packaging can be damaged and some bags have manufacturing holes. The storage area must protect the fuel independently of the wrapping.
Leave room to handle the bags
Plan an access route and enough space to move fuel without constantly shifting the whole supply. A Pelletia bag weighs 15 kg and a full pallet contains 67 bags. Take this quantity and the handling of individual bags into account.
Do not infer a safe stacking height from a photograph or stack pallets without confirmation. Permitted stacking depends on the packaging, stability and storage conditions. Follow the supplier’s instructions and keep passages clear.
Check the packaging on arrival
Look for torn bags, water marks and spilled fuel. Photograph any problem and contact the seller. Keep the batch identification and delivery documents so the affected product can be traced.
After opening a bag, keep the remaining fuel dry. Protect it from dirt and water.
What does 5.97% moisture mean?
The displayed test protocol records 5.97% moisture for the tested sample on the test date. It does not guarantee moisture content after any period of storage. The report does not describe your garage and cannot replace checking the fuel received.
Bag storage and silos have different requirements
Bulk pellet stores and silos have separate safety requirements. This guide is not an instruction for entering them. Follow the equipment and storage manufacturer’s documentation for your installation.
